Linking a mobile number to a voter EPIC ID: when and why

What the check returns

Given an EPIC (voter ID) number, the lookup returns whether a mobile number is linked and, where available, partial identity details for matching. It is a supporting check used alongside a primary ID, not a standalone KYC document in most regulated flows.

Legitimate uses

Address verification for a rural or thin-file customer who does not have a passport or driving licence often leans on the voter ID. Confirming the linked mobile adds a layer of assurance that the document was not simply photographed from someone else.

Handling non-matches

Many genuine voter IDs have no linked mobile, especially older enrolments. A "not linked" result is not a fraud signal; fall back to another verification path rather than declining outright.
