Do not prepare for an audit during the audit. Fifteen minutes a quarter keeps your verification programme defensible.
Sample and trace
Pick ten recent verification calls at random. For each, can you produce the purpose, the consent, the result and the decision? If any link is missing, that is this quarter fix.
Check the deletion job ran
Confirm records past their retention date were actually removed or anonymised. A failed deletion job that no one noticed is a common finding.
Review access
Who can see verification data and run checks? Remove anyone who changed roles. Confirm access is still logged.
Reconcile spend
Match your verification bill to your onboarding and payout volumes. A spike without a business reason is worth understanding: it can be a loop bug or a misuse.
